Pizza Hut deliveryman James Spiers thought he was making a routine delivery, but he was walking into an ambush. As Spiers approached, an armed man sprang at him with a gun, but Spiers, a concealed-carry permit holder, was no easy target. Police says Spiers struggled hard with the assailant until he was able to produce his handgun. "It was a long ordeal...my life was, without a doubt, in danger," Spiers recalls. Spiers shot the suspect three times. The suspect fled and was arrested at the hospital. Pizza Hut summarily fired Spiers, a 10 year employee, citing a corporate policy forbidding employees from carrying firearms. I totally think this is wrong what was done to this employee for protecting his life these deliveryguys usually go into some messed up neighborhoods they need some protection. I have already contacted pizzahut with my displeasure & will not eat pizzahut again. Just thought this was messed up & needed posting.

Pizza Hut is already on my "no" list anyway. They quit delivering to my house citing it was too far away. This seals it. What a terrible policy!

So I guess they would rather he just let the bad guy rob, and perhaps kill, him than offer armed resistance?

Stinks for him in the short run, but once he finds another job I bet he will be glad to be shut of a company that would rather he be shot than shoot the criminal.
