Do some deserve privacy and others do not?

I used to service the alarm systems on some of those pansies and they tickle me to the extent they go to to hide their own whereabouts.

Houses and cars in their wife's maiden name.

Unlisted phone numbers.

Gated neighborhoods with guards patrolling the street.

These jerks will go to any length to hide their own activities and locations yet see no problem with publishing mine.

Best way I know to get the point across is to publish a list of names and addresses for the whole world to see, starting with reporters and newspaper writers.

Williams and his ilk just don't get the fact that by hanging my name out in public, he is inviting the wrong people to view my information.

I attend church with a Nashville TV staff person and we get a laugh out of the way Williams slinks around, constantly watching his back.

He lives in fear that someone will kick his butt unless he has at least one cameraman to protect him.

Wouldn't you like to have his home address so you could send him a card.

Or know what type car he has to see if he drives any worse than the people he ridicules?

The Tennessean keeps littering my yard with their unwanted weekly thrown trash.

Why can't I take it to to Ellen Leifeld's house and tell her to stop trashing my yard (and my personal life).

Speaking of the Tennessean, try speaking to anyone in their offices and you will find the place locked up like Fort Knox.

No one outside the locked doors except a few expendable peons at the front desk.

Councilman and Legislatures give out office addresses and government phone numbers.

And all these people want to say that I'm the one that's paranoid for being proactive in the safety of my family!?!?

Hell, they know where to find me when they want a donation.

They come knocking on my door asking for my vote.

Why can't I go their house to explain in person why I will NOT be voting for them the next time around?

The only positive thing I have found about the open HCP list is the fact that I can spot the names of a few of those restaurant and bar owners' and laugh at their hypocrisy.

Mr Chardonnay sipper has no idea that the thug behind the bar has an eye on his wife and is carrying a pistol that the owner left back there for him.

I've worked on the security systems in those bars and I've seen the shotguns and old revolvers that were probably taken off some drunk hanging on the nail, near the taps.

Finally, Mr. Gary Newaroundhere.

Bless your heart. I too hate direct marketing and junk mail. It almost ticks me off as much as uninformed voters.

I have friends with houses full of gun collections and Clinton stickers on the back of their car.

It pisses me off.

Some are just lazy.

Some are plain stupid.

But sometimes, if you can be heard over their union bosses, you can get them to see the mess we are all in here.

If getting a little unwanted attention from someone who shares a similar attitude about owning a firearm ticks you off then you must have required psychiatric help when the newspaper invaded your privacy and published you name and address.

There's my rant for the day.

Some like chicken, some don't.

For me, I have to agree 100% with morg.

I had always been a member of the NRA, went to Life status by the time I bought my first car, before I ever got out on my own. I have always been an activist by nature, but it was the publishing of the data base that kicked me into high gear, causing me to seek out the TFA.

It still aggravates me, that the Communist Appeal can put my wife and grandchild at risk for their political agenda, burns me up actually.

I can only assume that any one approaching my home now is aware that I am armed, so my reaction to trespassers is different than it might have been. I have to assume that they are intending to do major harm to me and mine, so there will be far less leniency on my part, that being forced by the Commercial Appeal.

Nice rant. Do you really have names of hypocrites in the restaurant business ? (It makes a nice boycott list.)

The TFA forums are intended to help us all promote firearms interests in Tennessee. We need to keep in mind that our mission is promoting safe and responsible use and ownership of firearms, educating others and improving the statutory and regulatory framework that impacts these objectives. Each of us may find ourselves at different points on the paths of shooting interests, expertise, skill sets and political involvement - and that is ok.

I think Morg's comment about the newspaper was at least two fold and some here or coming here as a result of the news media exposure we have enjoyed recently may not be fully aware of these facts. Last fall, for example, the Commercial Appeal (Memphis newspaper) put an online database that had substantially all of the permit holder information in it. You could search it by almost any criteria including zip codes. It had full names, street addresses, dates of birth etc. I am told it even linked to Google Maps (or something of the type) to pinpoint a house and print a map. That database is still online at the Commercial Appeal but they have reduced the amount of information available perhaps after being admonished that they were idiots for doing what they did and that some of the information may be protected from such disclosure as "personal identifying information" under federal law. Further, years ago, several newspapers including the Tennessean here in Nashville could get the databases and publish in the printed paper the names and addresses of permit holders.

We work together as grassroots. That does not have to mean we all reach the same conclusions or that we have the exact same set of objectives for the optimal set of statutes, regulations or standards to be achieved. However, we probably have an overwhelming set of common objectives and beliefs that it make sense that we support each other.

Gary

Pardon me for not getting back sooner.

As you can tell I'm pretty worked up about the whole mess.

No, the entire rant was not for you.

I read into your post that you did not like the idea of receiving mail for a group that looks out for your interest.

At this point in time I am very angry with every gun owner that is not in the fight.

BTW I am with you all the way on the property tax website. Some homes are photographed so that you would recognize them from a mile away. Others like Senator Haynes' has a close up of a shrub enclosed doorway. You would not know that house if your drove by it a 100 times.

Forgive me if I dumped you into that pile and you do not belong there.

Gary, you look me up at a TFA meeting and I will buy you coffee.

God didn't bless you with a Southern birth but at least you were smart enough to come join us.

Now, it ain't about you from here on down:

It ticks me off to no end to see people avoid the TFA table at a gun show because they think the TFA members are going to hit them up for a donation.

It drives me insane to see my friends being spoon fed by speakers to support some creep that is "protecting their rights as hard working Americans" when I know that politician has stomped on every right he very got the chance to stomp on.

It stopped being "Play Nice" time years ago.

ProguninTN, I do have a list. Unfortunately, only my customers are on it. I am working to several other security company techs to put together a larger list.

Yes, I downloaded a copy of the list from the Communist Appeal and cross reference to the names of the owners whenever I see a gun hanging behind the bar of in the manager's office.

Granted they don't have to have a permit to have it there but it gives me some idea what's going on.

I am for leveling the playing field and would be willing to use a bulldozer to do it.

Think about, Phil Williams thinks nothing about hiding in the bushes and filming folks as they go about their daily lives to make his little docudramas.

Why can't he wake out one morning to find a few dozen folks flashing cameras and asking him questions.

The publisher of the Tennessean sees nothing wrong with having the rest of us take risk yet she works behind several locked doors and a security guard.

Why can't we go to her house on Long Hollow, knock on the door, and ask her why.

John and Rich and David are the nice guys, I'm the pain the backside that they hate see coming in their direction.

I'm the fellow that made police siren sounds every time John Ford ran through the the Senate hallways.

My fight started twenty five years ago when a politician introduced a bill that changed the way we defended ourselves in Tennessee.

Up until that time, a company would never have even considered whether or not it could deny a worker's right to carry a firearm in their vehicle.

I made my first call to the Senator and told him that someone would get hurt over his bill.

Little did I know that a friend of mine would die as a result of that law.

A week later, I went to the Senators home, rang the bell, shook his hand, and turned it over to looked at the palm.

And I asked him, "Do you see the blood?"

I see him around town and he ducks to avoid me.

He knows I will point and tell him that the blood is still there and I'm still mad.
