From what I’ve read about this, the rule that went into effect seems to have been “on the books” for a while and that this was the first time folks in NC realized its ramifications.

This seems like a clear violation of the Second Amendment but also a completely redundant law.

I think it appropriate to say that a government entity such as a city or county or state has a the legal authority to ban vehicle travel and/or put a curfew into effect. If we agree that such power rests with a state/local government then “banning” the possession of firearms in a vehicle becomes irrelevant does it not?

Bottom line is that this law needs to be changed as I can imagine some severe circumstances where a person might HAVE to be on the roads (get to a hospital for example) and if someone has to be out during an emergency and is otherwise legally able to carry on their person then they certainly ought to be able to have their firearm with them.

Personally, I have a problem with the Government, be it Federal, State or Local decrying when I can travel. If a child or loved one who I am responsible for developed an illness in a weather related situation, and I felt the need to transport that person to a hospital, then any Government's restriction would be difficult for me to abide by.

This is all a part of conditioning U.S. Citizens to accept Martial Law.. If it goes unchallenged in the courts, it also builds precedence that the government will use to justify even greater intrusions later.. Pretty diabolical actually. But, no longer surprising to me unfortunately...

I've lived in a city where we got 43" of snow in 48 hrs. This action wasn't taken there, & is never necessary.. BTW, there were no deaths as a result of firearms during that huge snow storm.. Go figure..

Common sense should be required on travel. If the government asks you to stay in, & You go out anyway & get into trouble, they should not be required to risk their lives to save you. It's called personal responsibility. But we've fallen so far from that concept that many people expect that the government is responsible to save them from their own stupidity or maybe even God's will for them. The government likes this way of thinking. It gives them some "God like" powers over the people.. Powers that they should not ever have..
