handgun permit

I have a son that would like to get his gun permit but feels like he can't because insted of taking a DUI in Murfreesboro he took a reckless endangerment. With this plea he also got 5 days in jail or 5 days in a treatment center. He opted for the Center,which he did in two weekends, so he could keep his job.
Can he still get his permit or is there a waiting peroid before he can get one? I think this happened three years ago in Murfreesboro.
I don't want to pay the $112. and have him turned down!

Thanks John, That is what he thought would catch him.
hope you and everyone else missed the storms today.
I guess since he spent 2 weekends in the center he would get caught by this!

Should I check with TDOT to see how they class this center? If so then whee would be the best place to ask?

Not TDOT, Tennessee Department of Safety. Yes, I would contact them (Nashville office contact is on the State web site) before I spent money on the class and the $115 application.

I am no lawyer, but i had an aquaintence in a similar situation. It may depend on the program's classification.

1. Was he a patient, client or an inmate?

2. Was it "rehabilitation program" or counseling?

3. Was he "hospitalized" or held?

My friend spent 3 days in a RDIP "Residential Driver Intervention Program". It was not at a hospital or clinic. There was no hospitalization. He was a client. The program was created and held offsite to prevent the client's record from being classified in a negative way.

Not advice, just an observation.
