Perhaps it could be pushed as anti-corrupt Duke style DA then?

A man moved to Pickett co. and did what ,at that time, was a regular saturday afternoon trip to the small state roadside park in Albany, Clinton co. KY. At this park friends traded or sold knives and guns. On this Saturday about two and a half years ago business was usual except a new man had a few pistols for sell. The Byrdstown,Tenn.(pickett) man was trying to buy a pistol when the sellor stated that he was a felon and was not supposed to have guns. The Tenn. man said he didn't care because it was a good deal and he wanted it. He bought the gun and looked around a while longer when all of a sudden law enforcement was all over most of the buyers, carrying them to Summerset or Boling Green or giving them a court date.
The Tenn. man was charged with purchasing a gun out of his state or residence and buying from a convicted felon.
He received 1 year supervised probation and fines, court cost and I do not know much more except after his time was up he started trying to buy a gun. He was turned down repeatedly, but was told to write to the TBI and they would help him get a gun license.
Over the next month or two he went through the classroom and shooting class and has a permit like I have worked so hard my whole life not to commit any crimes or problems and this person is walking around bragging about how easy it is to get a license criminal or not.
This man, Charles Estes, is a convicted criminal and carries a concealed pistol always.
I am a new member and I do not know much about this organization. I read some information about how ya'll try to uphold the laws of Tenn. and I became a member. I hope someone reads this that can do something to stop the state from making any more mistakes. Thank you for your time.allenville

The TFA does not uphold the law, that is a cops job. Is there a point to your story beyond that?

TFA is a grassroots organization. We are effective because we strive to increase the level of information that our members have so that they can more effectively and collectively communicate with legislators and other public officials to seek change in the law.

One thing I think interesting about the facts is the statement that someone was charged with purchasing from a felon. That is not illegal. I have seen many times where people end up with felony convictions and they have firearms at the time of the conviction. Its legal for them to get rid of them and most often that is done by selling or giving them away. Actually, the laws talk about "possession" by felons not ownership. I am aware of circumstances where felons continue to "own" guns but do not possess them (e.g., they are transferred to the possession of someone else). This is done when there is a good reason to believe that the individual will at some point regain the capacity to possess firearms.

I read and agree with Mr. Harris's answer to the laws that allow a person to have a gun without ownership. I still feel that this felon should not be walking the streets with a gun. Laws are made to work around and most people have a different interpitation of each, and I guess I am no different than the next person with my feeling toward this felon. Thank you for responding to my insert.
As far as someguy is concerned, I choose to join this organization because I was told it was an above the rest organization. If all you can respond to this insert is "whats this doing here" go read the laws or just listen to Mr. Harris... allenville
