"Thank You" Letter to the CA Editor

Dear Editor:

Thank you for your editorial opposing the bill that would empower restaurant owners of establishments that serve alcoholic beverages to decide if they would like to allow non-drinking, armed, gun carry permit holders in their restaurants.

As you know, this is an election year. Your opposition to this common sense bill will have the same effect as your 2004 endorsement of anti-gun presidential candidate, John Kerry. Again, you have put your misguided principals ahead of your subscription rate. Legislators that may be undecided in their support of the bill will not want to be seen as agreeing with your anti-gun publication. The gun grabbers that agree with you will vote against it anyway, IF Speaker Naifeh ever allows it to go to the House floor for an up or down vote.

We appreciate your editorial; this legislation needs to be publicized so that Tennessee House Speaker, Jimmy Naifeh (D-Covington), who claims to be pro-gun, will hear from his constituents. Speaker Naifeh has had similar legislation killed in committee every time it passed the Senate in the past, not allowing an up or down floor vote in the House. This protects him and his fellow travelers from having an anti-gun vote on their record.

The fact is; violent crime is reduced everywhere legislatures reduce restrictions on our constitutional right to bear arms. If area predatory criminals read the CA, I’m sure they would thank you too.

The Tennessee Firearms Association is a leading civil rights organization in our state. I hope you will continue to work with us in the future. Thanks again.

In Liberty,
