Dear Editor:

“Why would you go somewhere dangerous where you would need a gun?"

Last week, a friend of mine was robbed and shot four times in his carport. His home is supposed to be in a “safe” area, near The Racquet Club of Memphis. Thank God, it looks like he will recover, no thanks to the predator that tried to take his life while stealing his wife’s purse.

Crime, especially violent crime, frustrates all of us. I asked myself; how did Memphis become so dangerous? What caused it to be rated by the FBI, the second most violent area in America? As I looked at some of the choices we make as voters in society and how that determines the safety of our families and friends, it became clear that the policies of the Democrat party have made us less safe.

It is primarily the Democrats that always demand more of our hard-earned money in taxes, to buy votes with. And, although perhaps with good intentions; have misused our money in an attempt to replace fathers in low-income homes, while outlawing faith and morality in taxpayer funded schools. These, and other misguided social engineering policies, have created an environment that guarantees evermore criminal behavior.

Simultaneously, the Democrats have done everything within their power to disarm victims, which has unintentionally empowered violent criminals. If gun bans were able to reduce violent crime, they would have worked in the island nation of England, instead of causing a huge increase in violent crime there, as they did. The same predictable results occurred with gun bans in the Democrat run city of Washington D.C.

Our vote will affect everyone’s safety. I will help to keep my family, and your family, safer by voting Republican. The difference in how the parties view people’s right to protect themselves is most clear in the U.S. Senate race here. I trust NRA Endorsed Republican, Bob Corker, to protect our right to keep and bear arms, over Gun Owners of America “F” rated Democrat, Harold Ford, Jr., and hope you will do the same.
