Unfortunately, this type of attitude will continue to grow... People graduate high school everyday and have no idea what the Constitution says, and quite often what the Constitution even is. And because some of them enjoy power over others, they choose to go into law enforcement

This guy is one of the "elitest" cops that feels he is so much better qualified to carry a weapon than is the average citizen. Now... I'm not anti-cop. My father was a police officer... My business partner is a police officer. I deal with police officers in my work on a regular basis, and without them I wouldn't have as much business as I do. But in my business, I see all kinds of law enforcement officers... 90-95% of them are fine people just doing a job... But it's not hard to spot the ones that are looking to make sure they put people in their place, either. Call it the Napoleon Complex, the Small Richard Syndrome (think about that one for a moment) or what ever you want... Their whole purpose in being a law enforcement officer is self serving, not civil serving.

Having said that, I will never forget the words of my father when he was acting as a FTO (field training officer) for the last time before his retirement. "I'm glad that part is over... These kids that are coming out of the academy nowadays are different. Most are going to be okay... But then there are the ones that, somewhere between applying for the job and graduating at the academy, have forgotten that this is a 'civil service' job. Their attitude is 'we have to get them before they get us'."

Being a commissioned law enforcement officer doesn't elevate someone to another, more elite class. Sometimes certain individuals seem to forget that. They also tend to forget that they do not make the laws, they only enforce them. (Used to be, that was the police officer's favorite catch phrase when someone complained about speed limits being too low just as they were being written a ticket. Now if you complain or say anything negative, you can quite often be removed from the vehicle and really put through the ringer - not because they think you might actually have something illegal in the vehicle, but just because they can.)

And while I'm at it... Law enforcement is not (and should not be) paramilitary work. Nor should the military be used for law enforcement. When the line between these two entities becomes blurred, tragedy always follows. For example: I stay out of trouble, never go looking for it, and mind my own business. But if there is a paperwork error somewhere, and my front door gets kicked in on a "no knock" search warrant, I will indeed probably die... Not because I'm a bad guy, but because I know that many home invasion robberies are started with the bad guys kicking in the door yelling "police! search warrant!" so that the homeowner will not shoot at them. So when that happens at my house... Yep, I'm going to greet them with gunfire either way, because I have no way of telling the difference. I will surely die, but not before I've run the tube empty on my Scattergun 11-87/K9 and taken out several of them. I don't like thinking about that sort of scenario, but that will absolutely be the outcome were that to happen. There will be a lot of caskets sold that week, including mine. But no one... NO ONE IS GOING TO KICK IN MY FRONT DOOR AND NOT BE GREETED WITH THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF HELL'S FURY THAT I CAN BRING FORTH!!!

And our Constitution did not mean for it to be that way. Some often overlooked phrase about "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Ask me about this again sometime when I'm not too tired to type more, and I'll tell you how I really feel...

Stay Safe, Stay Armed,
Mike

Yep, well said Mike..

Today I installed an application that uploads video from my smart phone directly to the web as you record it, & saves it.. Police officers like this are why I did so..

Well said Mike. Those are the same sentiments I have. You know very well I am not one of those anti-cop nutz either. I have met many that served with pride and I have met too many with tarnished shields.
