Guys it sounds more like he is a law suit freak. He went looking for trouble and found it. The rangers were doing their job and even checked to be sure what the gun is. If he could find a genuine mistake on their part he would be speed dialing his lawyer. So now he wants to make a big deal out of the time he was held. I agree 2.5 hours is a long time to be held and is unacceptable. But so is the amount of damage he has done to what many many people have worked years for. It will take years to correct what this attention hound, lawsuit freak has done. Then he goes to every forum he has not been banned from spewing his garbage about "Look What I did." He has done nothing but helped the brady bunch by giving them ammo. I am going to stop now before I get madder than I am. No matter how hard anyone tries you can't fix STUPID.

Jumpin' Catfish Batman! Besides the obviously bad judgment it takes to have a firearm like this in plain view in public, it's one of the most impractical defense pistols I've seen in a long time.. A self defense encounter with one of these might turn out kind of like this:

Friend: "Hey John, why do you have a brace on your wrist?"

Johnny AK: "Oh, I hurt my wrist try to draw my 10 lb. AK pistol after I got jumped riding my bike in the park.."

Friend: "I See.. Is that a Bandage around your waist?"

Johnny AK: "Yes, the other guy got off three rounds with his little keltec .380 pocket pistol after I couldn't draw my gun & ran.."

Friend: "Three rounds! Wow, you're like... lucky to be alive!"

Johnny AK: "Well not really, I had a 15" inch Crescent wrench & a 30 piece socket set crammed into my Fanny Pack, so I only got hit with some fragments after his bullets hit those babies! Pretty slick huh?"

Friend: " Umm... Sure Johnny.. Where did you say you ride again?"

Look man, seriously.. You can read anywhere on this board & see that I totally support your right to be armed, but please don't do this again. Sometimes the fact that you CAN do something, doesn't necessarily mean that "you should." It's real simple.. Little gun for little threat levels.. Big gun for big threat levels..

I go to Radner to take wildlife photos, & carry a little pocket pistol because my Camera equipment is worth more than my truck, & my truck is nice. I don't feel unsafe there with that level of protection. If I saw you however with a mini-AK, that would change.. That's when I would find a ranger myself & tell him that he needs to bring a rifle, & make sure you aren't carrying a fully auto AK, with a folding stock.. Why? Well, because even though I'm a gun enthusiast, I wouldn't approach you to ask you, anymore than I would approach a man who was cutting his steak at the neighborhood diner by standing up & chopping it with a Samurai sword!

Gotta put in my 2 cents worth here

point 1) Yes you are allowed to carry a krinkov pistol in a state park... you are also allowed to throw matches at a 55 gallon drum filled with c4.. doing either one could get you killed. This doesn't mean you have to (to use your own words) "push the boundaries". The WHOLE IDEA of the HCP was to allow citizens to carry a weapon to defend themselves from major harm. The best weapon out there is the one that the attacker does not know exists. The element of surprise is a hugh advantage is a spur of the second shooting match. I can guarantee you that if I saw you coming toward me with that thing in your hands I would find a suitable ambush spot and forcefully disarm you before you were aware I was there.

point 2) so you spent 6 years in the guard/reserves. Good for you, did they not teach you that an ambush will even the odds very quickly. I would imagine that most of us here spent that much if not more in the actual avtive duty army. and a lot of us can actually show combat time (in my own case 2 years in RVN) humping the boonies.

BOTTOM LINE here is this..... as long as you make these stupid moves you will always be subject to being detained. Just be glad the park ranger with the shotgun didn't drop you where you stood. LEO shootings are exceptionally easy to justify in the presence of a weapon, and in this case I would side with the LEO hands down.

Please just do us all a favor and go play rambo in some other country where it doesn't affect our efforts as "sane people" to further our objectives.

As people are always saying "you have the right to remain silent..... you just lack the ability..."

Now shut up and go away...

Louie--

You're obviously new to the TFA forum, and thus, not aware that Leonard Embody (aka "KWIKRNU") was banned from here (along with a number
of other sites) some time ago.

Most of his threads have died from attrition...and I'm now locking this one to keep from stirring it back up.

Welcome aboard!
