The nation's largest animal protection organization is trying to block plans to allow hunting on the Great Meadows and Assabet River national wildlife refuges.
The Humane Society of the United States, which opposes all hunting on wildlife refuges, says plans to expand refuge hunting in Massachusetts and nine other states violate federal law because the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has not completed environmental impact statements.
