I know the why, but I am looking for the who and the when. The original bill, where it started sponsers and co-sposners. Did it start in the house or the senate, how was the origianal bill ammendmend, when was the $200 tax added? I have done one search after another but can not seem to come up with accounts between introduction and it becoming law. Can anybody help me out here.

If you can get hold of the book "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross, there is a good story about the history of the NFA and the various ramifications of same. If you don't have that book, you should get it...read it as often as you do the King James Bible. Not john Lott, who is also a great pro-gun writer, but John Ross.

I was wondering as to the origin. Hoping maybe it was started in the senate and the possibility of it being overturned as a "bill of revenue".
That leads into another question, now that SCOTUS has confirmed 2A as an individual right, could the NFA tax be repealed through the courts as it is taxing a right?

I think in the next ten years we could see the NFA tax, the restriction on post '86 guns, and possibly the state charge to do a background check.
