This may not be the correct place to post this but here goes,

Has anybody contacted thier Rep or Seantor about the extreme long time it is taking the ATF to approve Class III stamps? I am just getting into these items and will be getting a trust soon but I dont have one yet. From what I understand this used to be a 6-8 week process and now it is taking a minimum of 4 months and I hace heard of some folks waiting 6 or even 8 months.

How about contacting your senator or rep and demanding it be over turned? If enough people do this it could happen.

Anyone who has bought NFA items can tell you that transfer times vary greatly. The 6-8 weeks from last year was an aberration. A welcome aberration, but still much out of the ordinary. My experience with Form 4 approvals is that after a month, call them to ensure that the status is 'pending'. If is not 'pending' after a month, something is wrong. After it has gone pending, call them again once a month just to check up on it. That will ensure that it hasn't fallen off someone's desk or been stuffed in a drawer. Calling more often is counter-productive. Most of my transfers have taken 3-4 months. After 9/11, transfers took as long as a year. Patience is a virtue.

I have been involved with several transfers involving NFA trusts and they seem to be handled a little quicker.
