I understand that it is not legal to carry my sidearm into a postoffice. Is it legal to carry my sidearm into a supermarket that has a post office located in the supermarket?

I have yet to see a law that specifically prohibits all firearms in post offices. Last time I looked, there were exceptions, and one was a pretty nice one, basically for all legal purposes. (I think the other two were for hunting, and LE.)
IOW, carry away.

It is definently illegal to carry in a P.O. Postal Reg. 39CFR232-1 prohibits any dangerous weapon OR firearm in a P.O.
Fed. Reg. 18 usc 930 prohibits same in any building or part thereof owned or leased by the Fed. Govt. where federal employees are regularly present..
So you can go to the store, but DO NOT set foot over P.O.line. The P.O. takes this very seriously.

Its the "part thereof" that is restrictive. Good post. If you have a chance, please edit the post to add a link to the regulation if you have access to it.

I don't have a link, it's in a book: Florida Firearms; Law, Use, And Ownership, 6th ed. by Jon H. Gutmacher, Esq.
28 yrs litigation in Fla. "The premier authority on weapons and firearms in Fl." If you get a chance to pick this book up, do it. Every state should should have a book like this. Updated after every legislation session if there are changes in the laws. I keep one in my house and one in the truck.
I'm sure there are a couple of Atty's. here that can post a link to the actual law.

As I recall, there is an exception, one of them being for all legal purposes.

boat, in my second post I noted three ways I remember the exception.
Hunters, LEOs, and a general catch-all that was simply all legal purposes. Self-defense is a legal purpose here in TN.
