Arbitrary Closure of FOP21 Range by TVA

Postby tkdmavrick » Wed Jun 10, 2009 3:51 pm

Many folks may not be aware of this , but the FOP21 range in Loudon County has offered associate memberships for years and many have enjoyed their facilities. This range has been used by the Loudon County Sheriff's department for annual state mandated gun recertifactions. Apparently someone has complained to TVA, who leases the land to FOP21, and the TVA will not close the range July 1, 2009.

The decision is arbitrary because that range (to my knowledge) is protected by TCA 39-17-316. I have written to Gov. Bredesen, State Rep. Stacey Campfield, State Sen. Burchette, Congressman Duncan, Gov. Bredesen, and Senators Corker and Alexander. Surprisingly Sen. Alexander's office called back within 20 minutes of me faxing them.
