I would like to see the supporters of this bill submit another one that makes it illegal for law enforcement personnel to carry a firearm in an establishment that sells alchohol by the drink UNLESS the officer is on a call. If you think about it, if there is no good reason for a permit holder to carry in such an establishment, there is NO LEGITIMATE REASON for a police officer that is not responding to a call. There are plenty of places that serve food that do not serve alchohol, and for the life of me, I can't think of any reason (other than a call) that a police officer carrying a firearm needs to be in a bar. This should also apply to anyone else carrying a firearm for any reason. These people are human just like you and I and as such, are a risk just like you and I.
I would propose that this be submitted at the same time as another attempt at HB 2225.

It is my understanding that "technically"; it is illegal now, for a cop to be armed in an establishment that serves alcohol. It's just never enforced.
Thanks,

I'd like to find out for certain because I wouldn't be afraid to challenge a law enforcement officer that sat down to eat a meal at a place such as Hooters. I'm a law-abiding citizen and I expect no less of those that are hired to uphold the law.
