Tennessee Firearms Assoc. Inc.

The Tennessee Attorney General released an opinion on February 9, 2004 (it has just hit the AG Website and is now posted on the TFA web site) detailing the state's attorney's opinion on the authority of the government to prohibit firearms in parks and on government property and the liability - if any - if someone is harmed while disarmed in accordance with the governmental posting.

By referencing Article 1 sec 26 the arguement of opinion 1 apparently is that by restricting handguns on public property reduces crime; a shaky position at best.
There is also the presumption that "public property" is actually private property owned by the State. I would have thought State owned property belong to Tennessee citizens and was only managed by the State.

The above observations also applies to property "owned" by local governments.

We got the wrong frame of mind working in our State.
