I'm new to Tenn. From what I'm seeing here it appears that you must get printed for every gun purchase. Is this true? Even if you have a concealed permit?
If actors bodyguards can have weapons, why can't I?

Current Tennessee law requires a thumb print for each purchase. There is legislation pending to stop that and it has the support of the TBI because they have determined that they don't need the thumbprints.

BTW, we don't have 'concealed' permits in TN. We have Carry Permits. (We have have the freedom to choose how we carry and we don't need to perpetuate the myth that open carry is unlawful.) Anyways, happy carrying (whether it be open or concealed).
