My wife completed her carry class yesterday and went to get finger prints today. The guy at finger printing in Murfreesboro told her she was lucky she came in today. Starting next week they will be charging $48.00 for finger printing. The company that is performing the finger prints got bought out. I don't know what is up with that. I hope that is miss information on his part.

Fingerprinting is included in the cost of the permit if it is for a handgun permit applicant. Keep in mind the law also requires the sheriffs to do it rather than using the TDOS contractors.

See my new post about the "pitfals in the HCP process".
My fiance recently got her HCP and after she took the original shooting class, she [3 weeks later] had to go BACK to the same place where she had taken the shooting class...just to get FPs!! What a load of buckshot that was.
I do not see why they could not do FPs when folks TAKE their shooting safety class..then [at the same time] fill out the state application and send it in THAT DAY w the $115 fee. Why do we hafta go stand in lines with a bunch of pimply 15 yr olds and illegal aliens {all waiting to get DLs} just to GET a state HCP appl'n?? The "photo @ the DMV" could easily be a simple passport photo BROUGHT to the shooting class..or the STATE could digitally take a photo from a current DL..it iS 2011 after all.... and we DO have digital tech don't we????? Actually the HCP should simply be an "endorsement" added to the DL, much like getting a 'motorcycle endorsement' is now done!!! Why do we even need a separate HCP card at all? For those who do not ride cycles, the cycle endorsement is a simple "MC" added to the DL. The HCP could be as simple, esp since the number is identical anyways. Sheesh..we're reinventing the wheel here folks!!!
rant off!!
