Reminder: National Guard & Police disarmed Katrina victims

Stay Alert friends, lest apathy be the death of us all. Remember that the National Guard & the N.O. police used Katrina as an excuse to illegally & unconstitutionally disarm U.S. citizens..

More importantly, even though the activities were illegal, and the NRA got the city to admit it overstepped, not a single person has ever been charged. It's 4+ years latter and not one police officer, nor the politicians who ordered the gun confiscation has been charged with a crime.

No offense but the NRA really let us down on this one.

You know what's sad? When we're depending on the NRA to protect basic rights, because few of our leaders who (unlike the NRA) are sworn to protect the constitution of the United States, have the courage or integrity to actually do what they took an oath to do..

I don't know the particulars of why he NRA wasn't able to get prosecutions.. It would seem to me though, that it would be beyond their control to do so..

I think it is a bit of a streach to say that the national Guard was looking for an excuse to violate the Constitution. As far as the everyday rank and file guardmembers I think it was more of an educational issue with them not being trained to understand the difference between legal and illegal orders. I wont speak for the police as I am not one but as a member of the national guard and having spoken with other members we all pretty much had the same answer should we get a similure order.

a. it is illegal for me to carry that out
b. it would be like giving a death sentence to the guys going door to door
c. I am going to go home so my wife dont give my stuff away.

If it was an "educational issue" then I think we're making lame excuses for Government. I appreciate very much the service of our Guardsmen, but you are also responsible for knowing what you are signing up for. From a civil duty perspective, ever person is morally responsible for knowing at least their basic rights, otherwise, how can they protect any one else's? ("To Protect & to Serve", a widely used Police Motto..)
These people are ALL sworn to uphold the Constitution, as part of their jobs. I am NOT sworn in with the understanding that I am to defend & uphold the Constitution, yet here I am having to do it through every form of media I can get my hands on, because many in Government & it's employees are attacking it.

So, I'm not willing to let them off the hook so easy.. If you swear to uphold the Constitution, it's your responsibility to read it first.. I keep a copy on my person at all times, because I took the time to get a phone application that has all of it in there, & I have a pocket version. Why aren't these cops & guardsmen doing the same as part of their job requirement? I'll tell you why, because by & large this Government likes it's power over the people, & they would rather keep everyone dumb about the constitution. THAT is the truth..
