Meeting with new Jackson Police Chief
Posted: Fri Nov 20, 2009 8:30 am
I had an opportunity to sit down with Mr. Gill Kendrick, the new Police Chief of the Jackson Police Department. I sought and received an audience in my capacity of Chapter Leader of the Tennessee Firearms Association.
Chief Kendrick and I discussed several issues, ranging from the status of crime in our community, to the Right of the lawful Citizen to bear arms for their personal protection. I was impressed with his no nonsense style of communication. Bright of eye and animated in his conversation, a self proclaimed "country boy", his down to earth persona was a pleasure to observe and interact with.
Of all the statements made, I was most impressed by his assertion that he had taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and that lawful gun owners were guaranteed the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
I have offered the Chief an opportunity to come before the membership, to communicate concerns and suggestions he might have, and have assured him that the TFA desires to support and work with LE in our area to our mutual benefit.
