A 60-year-old man Saturday night shot and critically injured a 17-year-old robbery suspect outside the victim’s Lindy Murff Court residence.

The teenager and an accomplice, convicted felon Kevin Negron, 19, approached the victim who had just arrived home and was sitting in his car with a friend at 9:30 p.m. The teen, armed with a handgun, demanded money while Negron stood nearby with a shotgun. The victim retrieved the .38 caliber revolver he was carrying pursuant to a handgun carry permit. In defense of himself and others, he fired on the teenager who was struck in the chest.

Negron drove his injured teen accomplice to the Shell gas station at 197 Haywood Lane where he reported they had been the victims of a crime. South Precinct officers alertly identified both men as the robbery suspects. During interviews, Negron admitted to his involvement in the attempted robbery.

Negron, of Reeves Road, is charged with two counts of attempted aggravated robbery and is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond. He was on probation for an April felony evading arrest conviction. Negron’s arrest history includes theft and domestic assault charges.

The 17-year-old will be charged with aggravated robbery in Juvenile Court upon his dismissal from Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Negron’s photo is being withheld pending lineups in similar robberies.

A larger shame that we paid for his health care.

Biggest shame is he didn't use a bigger gun.

I'm wondering why, if he violated his probation, he was granted a bond. Usually an automatic trip back to
jail.

Hmmm,,, We have police, why would the HCP holder need a gun,, bad guys are not allowed to have guns,, isn't that the law?Oh that's right, I remember now, that's why bad guys go to jail, because they don't obey any laws, nor do they respect people's rights or property. The police can stop all bad guys, before they can perpetrate any crime,, well ,maybe, if they were all super heroes,but that's not real, what is real,is bad guys willing to commit crime with guns,and even murder innocent citizens, fortunately, the HCP holder is well, I'm sure shaken, but well, and let that be a warning to criminals,, our numbers are growing,law abiding citizens are fighting back! We are not vigilantes ,but,we will defend our lives, our family and property.I carry a 45,and my defense round is doubletap 185gr bonded hollow points, a real bad guy stopper. That criminal is lucky to survive. To all those with HCP's , who only carry ,"sometimes" let this be a wake up call.Criminals may take a day off "sometimes",but there are other bad guys out there on duty. To all liberal "anti-gunner's" and I know you read these post's,, you get on your knee's and pray to God Almighty that he cloaks you from evil, and that you ,yourself do not become a statistic, and furthermore ,respect our rights! ,and moreover,,READ and RESPECT,and Obey the Constitution. Our rights,,my rights, and our Constitution,ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE! oh yeah,,DON'T TREAD ON ME.

It is a good thing that this didn't happen in one of our area parks , it would of turned out a lot different . I forgot no guns in parks , no one would of had a firearm. Right ?
