AS I understand the law and as I've been advised by people who should know, it's okay for my 20-year-old son to possess a handgun and take it to the range to shoot; he just can't purchase a handgun from a commercial seller or "carry" it loaded, right? He can transport it to the range and back to his apartment, just as he now does with his rifle and shotgun, unloaded and in the trunk.

I'm not "out to lunch" on any of this, am I?
