I do hope that this is based in fact. As a member of the military I always try to pass this kind of kindness along. If somebody buys my lunch or dinner I normally give the water/waitress a tip in the amount of the check.

i know for a fact my sons boss has done this a few times in restaurants. he believes in supporting the boys in service.
