Alternate suggestion to places That ban

I noticed in a lot of the responses in letters or e-mail from businesses that are posted on this site, that one of the main concerns is the potential "discomfort" of other customers if they see an open carried firearm.

Now I am not trying to start a debate over open carry vs. concealed but I wonder if when discussing the issue with the owner or manager, if we suggested they put up a sign saying something to the effect of, "no open carried weapons allowed" if this may be a viable suggestion that may sooth the savage beast.

Although not a legal sign per say, it may relieve concerns of any patron that is anti-gun that would be disturbed by sitting next to a legal open carry as well as providing an alternate "out" to the owner/manager in lieu of a complete ban.

Of course, if patron discomfort is just a cheap excuse to keep carry permit holders out, then this idea carries no weight whatsoever.

Again, please don't take this as an anti-open carry statement, but I would rather see a sign like the one above than a legal sign that prevents me from entering.

Would it actually be an illegal posting? The management is not banning so it would not have to be IAW TCA. They are just saying cover it up or we will ask you to leave.

Agreed, the owner can regulate the method of which a handgun is carried but I was referring to the outright banning of guns on the property which must conform to the Tennessee laws on size and wording, not the allowed method of carry.

I would welcome a sign that stated concealed carry only. It shows the owner respects and allows my right to carry while attempting to appease any customers that don't see it that way.

Better than a properly posted "no guns" sign IMHO.

I actually suggested this to Demos and never heard back from them about it. If the sheeple don't see it they don't know it is there.
