Seems they are trying to modify 0960, we need to alert everyone so that we can put pressure on them to NOT do this.

Absolute.

Is everyone reading this getting the TFALAC Alerts? We have had some periodic computer problems and confirmation would be nice. I sent out a large alert on the committee on 2/25.

I just subscribed to the alerts. Thanks for mentioning them.

John, do you have any more information about the delay of the vote on 0960? It can't bode well for passage.

I really can't stand the comments about how we "don't need guns around kids," as if prohibiting HCP holders from carrying in parks somehow prevents criminals from doing so, or as if the presence of children in parks is somehow different from the presence of children in Wal-Mart, theatres, the mall, and everywhere else that carry is permitted.

I am still getting the TFALAC alerts. I got the one about the Feb 25 House sub-committee meeting. It reminded me to email my rep, senator, and every member of the sub-committee. Several responded in a very timely manner. Some completely ignored me...

The alerts are definitely a great service. They often trigger action from me!

This is what Speaker Williams wrote to me this afternoon:

Thanks, Piper. I have seen way too many fights at sporting events including little league parks. I am trying to keep guns out of those areas for that reason. We are studying the other areas of interest and will look into those issues further. A study committee may be reviewing those to see that we reach the best solution.

Thank you,
Kent Williams
Speaker of the House of Representatives
Carter County
House District 4
State of Tennessee

To: Kent Williams
Subject: Park Carry Bill

Dear Speaker Williams,

Thank you for your response. I do, however, have a question:

Do you support my rights to carry my firearm legally to carry at the Sycamore Shoals walking trails but not at the city park near Lynn Valley? Remember that permit holders are among the most law-abiding of all citizens, statistically, in the state(John Lott's research in More Guns, Less Crime)

The Lynn Valley park is closer to my house and I prefer walking there but I can't legally carry, at the moment, but would like to.

Please support my right to keep and bear arms everywhere, rather than trust me 'here' but not 'there'.

Cordially,
Piperfromtn

Basically, Kent Williams is using the "blood in the streets" line.
