I shoot at Whispering Pines here in Lyles. It is an outdoor range with pistol range and a rifle, shotgun range. However it is a range that an older gentleman built on his property so it is nothing extravagant. Nothing fancy like the targets are printed from the web. So they are 8.5" X 11" and you have to staple them up yourself. It is more like what someone would build in their back yard sortof. But at least you know it is a safe place to shoot without having to worry about anything. Just it gets cold on the rifle section in the winter. Pistol side has a little building to sit in with heat and a fridge. He has snacks and drinks you can purchase. It isn't a bad place especially if you like the rugged rustic look of things. Most of the lumber used came right off the land right there. It is a State approved range. He teaches the ccw classes there. I think I mainly use it because of the owner and his gun knowledge. We have the same taste in Ruger and other weapons. He has a vast knowledge of firearms , what makes them tick etc.... . He is retired now and when the weather permits and he doesn't teach a ccw class , he is working on something to make the range better. Someday if he gets enough interest in the range other than just the locals trying to keep their skills up , he plans to build an indoor section for the pistol range first and later do the same for the long gun range.
