I handle these types of cases in my law practice. Right now, there are about 5 different procedures in Tennessee depending on a variety of factors specific to your individual circumstances. All of them require the assistance of an attorney unless you have experience representing yourself in court.

What about the changes last year? Didn't they remove or greatly modify the ability to have 2A restoration happen?

The 2008 changes do impact the effect of the restoration but I believe from conversations even today with legislators that the 2008 change (which passed with NRA lobbyist approval) will be addressed and hopefully reversed this year.

But currently, those with felony convistions are pretty much SOL still, right?

Right now, we don't know. There is an ATF opinion which says the July 2008 change is prospective only. I read it to apply no matter the date of the restoration. I am told by many legislators that it will be fixed but who knows now with what transpired in the House - its sort of like Alice in Wonderland right now....
