Robbers Try To Hold Up Police Bar; Get Shot In Buttocks

Thanks to TFA Member Joe Ruff for bringing this story to our attention. It's a great illustration of our need to modernize Tennessee's carry laws for restaurants. Obviously, criminals intending to commit armed robbery ignore the restrictions on firearms.

Robbers Try To Hold Up Police Bar; One Gets Shot In Buttocks

(KTVI - myFOXstl.com) --
A would-be robber picked the wrong bar to rob overnight and ended up in the hospital with a gunshot wound.

It happened around midnight at the Pooh’s Corner Bar at Virginia and I-55. Police say two men walked in to rob the place but several off-duty police officers were inside.

Sometime during the robbery attempt, shots were fired and one of the suspects was hit in the buttocks. He was caught at the scene, but the other man ran away. Police caught him a short time later.

One of the neighbors who called police says she looked out the window after she heard the shots and saw about five men standing around the captured suspect before he was led away in handcuffs.

Residents say it's pretty common knowledge that this is a cop hangout, so it's probably not the bar robbers want to target.

Off duty officers armed in a bar? If so, its a violation of the restaurant ban.

"Off duty officers armed in a bar? If so, its a violation of the restaurant ban."

That is exactly right in Tennessee law and most likely, in Missouri as well.

Thanks,

I love that quote from Tacitus.

When my father practiced law (1963 to his death in 1979), the Tennessee statutes fit on one shelf. Now, the cover almost 4 full shelves in my office. There is no need for that.

The federal statutes would take up most of the bed of my F350 perhaps 2 layers thick!

Thanks John, sadly, our country goes more the way of Rome every day.
