I have seen NO letters to the editor supporting their baseless anti-gun position. Left mostly in tact, this was printed last Wednesday:
Thanks for the help, CA
Thank you for your Jan. 18 editorial opposing the Tennessee bill that would empower owners of restaurants that serve alcohol to decide whether they would like to allow nondrinking, armed, gun-carry permit holders in their establishments.
As you know, this is an election year. Legislators who may be undecided about the bill will not want to be seen as agreeing with your anti-gun publication. The gun grabbers who agree with you will vote against it anyway, if House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh, D-Covington, ever allows it to go to the floor for an up or down vote.
We appreciate your editorial; this legislation needs to be publicized so Naifeh, who claims to be pro-gun, will hear from his constituents. Naifeh has had similar legislation killed in committee every time it passed the Senate in the past, not allowing an up or down floor vote in the House. This protects him and his fellow travelers from having an anti-gun vote on their record.
The fact is that violent crime is reduced everywhere legislatures reduce restrictions on our constitutional right to bear arms. If area predatory criminals read The CA, I'm sure they would thank you, too.
