I am an ex-Police Officer from Illinois. Since moving to Tennessee I have not found a good source for checking what Tennessee laws are. (Other than buying a copy of the Tennessee Criminal Code Annotated)

Is there an on-line source that I don’t have to be an Attorney to use to look up criminal law? Specifically at this time I wanted to read the law for the use of deadly force.

What about a good source for buying a used copy of the criminal code and traffic laws?

It seems I remember reading somewhere that in TN, a person who uses justifiable deadly force in self defense was immune from civil prosecution by the family or the one who is defended against. Can John or anyone else point me to this in the TCA?
