New attorney general opinions

Postby johnharris » Wed Jul 12, 2006 8:48 am

This week a new attorney general opinion was released which considered the issue of what is a "dishonorable discharge" for purposes of obtaining a civilian carry permit. That opinion concludes that the rules of the Department of Safety on this issue are wrong and exceeded the Department's constitutional rule making authority. So what's new about that???

Anyhow, here are the three most recent additions to the section of the TFA web site on new attorney general opinions. Each of them are signficant for gun owners in Tennessee.

Handgun Permit Eligibility - What is a dishonorable discharge (06-109)

Eligibility of a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes to Serve as a Police Officer or Sheriff Where That Person’s Citizenship Rights Have Been Restored Pursuant to Court Order (06-045)

Civilian Handgun Permits Concealment and Seizure by law enforcement (05-154)
