Hello all, new here

Postby JasonC » Tue Dec 28, 2004 3:59 pm

Hello all. I am very glad to have found this web site! My name is Jason and I have been carrying concealed in TN for about 7 years now. I have spent the last 6 years as an MP and the last year over in Afghanistan. While I was over there my wife mailed me a copy of Mr. Harris' book and I decided that when I got back I needed to check out the TFA. Well I just returned home earlier this month and I am impressed with the forums. I will also be joining the TFA very soon. Thanks for a great resource for discussion of all firearms issues and topics, especially carrying!!! Looking forward to participating and being a member!

WELCOME JASON! Great to have you with us. As you will see, you may join TFA online or you may mail your $35 in to Mr. Harris. I know I speak for others when I say it will be our pleasure to have you as a member and work shoulder to shoulder with you on the project of further securing our rights on the state level. Also, if you ever find yourself coming in/around the Jackson area, PLEASE let me know ahead of time if you can so we may meet personally with a hearty handshake over a good meal.

Also, please let me say a most grateful/sincere THANK YOU for your service to our country. We are a patriotic group here, and we appreciate your contribution as well as your safe return to your loved ones.

Looking forward to more good things together. Take care and stay safe.

Respectfully/Gratefully, RNMEDIC

Thank you very much for the warm welcome!

It's funny you mentioned Jackson - I used to go thru there almost every weekend back when I was in college in Arkansas and my wife (back then fiance) was living and working in Nashville. Used to stop and eat at Casey Jones Village all the time. Broke down there once very late at night at the rest stop and was harrassed by some very unsavory characters, and that was before I was a TN resident and didn't have a handgun then. (Of course I know better now.) Sometime this spring I am hoping to make a trip back to the old alma mater and do some fishing in my old stomping grounds in Arkansas, so I'll keep that invite in mind.

Anyways, thanks again and if you ever come thru Nashville/Columbia/Spring Hill/Chapel Hill area, the same invitation applies from my end!

Welcome JasonC

Hiya JasonC, and welcome to the board.

I see you mention the Nashville, Columbia, Spring Hill area in your post. You must live in that area, albeit a large area to consider. I myself live in Franklin, and have family and friends in and around Nashville.

I'm a member of the Owl Hollow gun club, and shoot there regularly. It's located south of Franklin, and only a few minutes from Spring Hill.
If you're not already a member of a gun club or shooting range, maybe I could persuade you to pay a visit and shoot with us some time.

Anyway, the TFA needs members and support. We need to get some of the Handgun carry restrictions lifted in Tennessee, so anything you can do to help would be appreciated.

Well I actually do reside in Chapel Hill. But I work up in Brentwood and shop some in both Franklin and Columbia.

I have known about Owl Hollow for a few years. I used to live up in Nashville but now that I am a bit closer I will have to come check it out. I usually do my indoor shooting at On Target in Murfreesboro. If I recall correctly, if you shoot at Owl Hollow your membership expires in a certain month and they do not pro-rate, so can you tell me when the best time to apply for membership is so I can get the whole year's worth?

Also, since you live in Franklin, I have heard they have a gun show at the TN agricultural facility nearby. Do you know when the next one is that will be held there? I know about Goodman's and Popes, but this one is new to me.

Thanks!

Actually, the best time to get a membership at the Owl Hollow range is right now. They run from January through December. If you join now, you will receive use of the range for a year. The cost is $40.00 per calender year. They have a website at: http://www.owlhollowgunclub.org/ and you can get more info on the range and I think you can even print out the application for membership online too.

In regards to the gun shows in Franklin...... I am not aware of any gun shows at the agricultural building that you speak of. However, there have been 2 gun shows at the Franklin Factory located at the corner of Franklin Rd and Liberty Pike. To the best of my knowledge, the shows were about 3 months apart, and they just had one back in November. I have not heard of a date for another one, but I will post it here as soon as I do.

Let me add my welcome. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask... you'll get a lots of answers <g>.

The most important thing to remember is that we all stay active and regularly contact our elected officals so they know what the law abiding gun owners want.

Glad to have you aboard.

Jason,

I echo what RNMEDIC said.

I live in the Memphis area and my wife is from Arkansas. Where did you used to fish?

I went to college at Harding University in Searcy. I fished some ponds around there, I also fished the Little Red river up at Heber Springs for trout, Lake Bald Knob, Lake Tommy Sproles, Hurricane Lake, Greers Ferry Lake, and probably some I can't remember right now. I know there was one I went to just about every weekend near Jacksonville, AR off hwy 67 almost to Little Rock.

Again, thanks for the welcome!!

I also went to Harding from 1970-75. What years did you attend there? Look for a private e-mail from me.
