I was not sure where to post this in the multitude of threads, so the "General" thread seemed like the place to start.
It's being reported on all the news channels of a man with a handgun at the Publix grocery store on Memorial Blvd in murfreesboro Tn. They did not state if was a permit holder, but it's implied and I would assume he is.
Anyway, the story is, "He dropped his Handgun while in the store and it Accidently went off." This is how the story is being reported.
First of all, Most modern handguns these days have a built in Trigger disconnect to prevent that from happening. A gun is not supposed to go off if dropped. Secondly, (most disturbing part) how does one "Drop his handgun" while grocery shopping? Was he carrying it in his hand rather than in a holster, the preferred method?
This whole story gives the "Gun Haters" yet another reason to hate us, and I'm going to predict that Publix will issue a statement soon banning handguns from their properties. I hope not, because that is where I prefer to shop.
I carry a handgun almost everywhere I go, including Publix, and I've never dropped my handgun in any store. I just don't get this. This guy must be totally stupid.
