I know this will sound odd, but I agree with fl0at and Someguy. I don't like medical professionals asking about firearms, as some in the field have anti gun agendas. However, I also realize that some, like Someguy, are pro rights but are wary of a litigious society. (I am presuming he does not want to deal with wrongful injury/death lawsuits for not investigating a mentally ill patient's access to weapons.) I guess we must find a way to balance these concerns.
Someguy also mentioned databases in one of his posts. Anyone else think we should again push to privatize the HCP list ? (Some of us may remember when The Commercial Appeal posted a searchable online version of the database.) I don't think we should be treated in the same fashion as sex and meth offenders. I also know we have some in our own ranks who want the database public for politicking. (Anyone else get a mailer from Ron Ramsey during the gubernatorial election where he highlighted the fact that he was the only candidate who had an HCP ? )
