Good news. This coming Monday TVA will have their new firearm policy posted. Although we did not get all we wanted places like TVA hunting lands and Boat Ramps will now allow Permit Holders. (Sorry TVA Campgrounds, for now, still will not allow carry but will still allow "guns for the legal purpose of hunting as long as they are cased".)

I want to thank them and everyone that helped in the discussions to let TVA understand Permit Holders and the Permit program. This shows once the program is understood people are less likely to post.

I received this from the people at TVA.
"Check the developed recreation rules on the TVA website for Recreation Areas on Monday. I believe you will see a change regarding TVA Boat Ramps. Call me Monday and I can direct you to the location if you do not find it."

I will post the web page Monday if you cannot find it.

They didn't get it uploaded today. It will be listed on the TVA webpage under recreation/developed area rules by the end of the week.
SIgnage on the TVA hunting lands/unimproved lands are being worked on to not specify "hunting firearms" only and will take some time to get completed.

In a nutshell, Day use areas and campgrounds will still be off limits for now, but will still allow hunting firearms cased.....boat ramps, undeveloped lands, and TVA hunting areas will be open to carry.

I just wanted to get you up to speed on TVA’s new policy. Before on TVA lands “guns for the legal purpose of hunting” were allowed on undeveloped lands and in developed areas like TVA campgrounds and boat ramps as long as they were unloaded and cased (unless you were in the act of hunting they could be loaded). If you had a carry gun it was a federal offense subject to gun confiscation, fines, jail, and your boat/camper/car could also be confiscated. (Under the 1933 TVA act TVA can make a rule and it supersedes and state law)

The new policy permit holders will be allowed in Undeveloped lands like hunting areas, lakes, and at developed boat ramps. Permit holders are still prohibited in campgrounds, day use areas and other developed recreational TVA lands and cannot have them in their vehicle or boat in these areas unless cases and for the “legal purpose of hunting”

This will be on the TVA.gov web page sometime this week (maybe today) in the recreation section under “rules for developed” lands
