I am headed that way soon for some recreation at Bandy Creek and would like to find gun range in the area that is accessible to the public.

Yes it is legal to carry in the Big South Fork National Recreation Area. It is run by the National Park Service. You can also hunt in any area of the Area that is not marked as a "Safety Area" You can find all that info here:
