In fact, I need to add something to my last point that is of great importance.. In our society, driving a car is indeed a privilege under the law.. However when is the last time someone told you that if you don't stop to let someone out the a side street when you have the Right of Way" under the law, that you are being "discourteous, & hurting the reputation of drivers everywhere? "

I never hear that.. That kind of pressure is only put on Gun owners these days, because of political correctness! Yet AAA estimates there are about 1,200 road rage related deaths a year in this country..
http://www.aaafoundation.org/resources/ ... n=agdrtext

Nobody is running around as far as I can tell though, taking people to task for chucking each other the finger on the road... I saw that happen just a couple days ago..

My point is not that people shouldn't be polite.. If any of you drove around with me, or hung around with me all the time, I guarantee that you would find that I am polite to people 99% of the time.

My point here is that perceptions, morality, congeniality are all apart from the law of the land, & that's because Mind Policing is a Pandoras Box.. Our founding father's new that, & that's why they protected free speech as the first order of business..

I also don't like overbearing undercover cops that hang around in Movie theaters either, & I'm not going to be polite to any cop who refuses to show identification, & threatens me verbally. And if he makes a move on me without showing identification, he may even get physically harmed, because I'm not required to take him at his word, & he has no authority over me if I have done nothing wrong. Furthermore, if he uses unnecessary physical force on me, he may be injured as well.. That is not an act of impoliteness, or decadence, that is an act of self preservation, & one of my inalienable rights. "Self Protection". You have to keep in mind, that I've never been in a physical confrontation with any police officer, though I've been harassed by about 6 in my life for no reason... If I was always walking around causing trouble, I would have a record by now, & be in fights all of the time. That's not the case though. The case is, that I'm not willing to let people whittle my rights away incrementally, for the sake of being cordial, or making people feel all fuzzy inside..

Hey Robert, here's another one.. What if you were like a German theater owner back in the early 1900's & a Jew walked into your theater wearing a star of David, & you believed some propaganda that was being fed to you that all Jews were inherently wicked & trying to take over, & ruin the economy for all others.. Would you maybe kick him out & try to have him arrested? Oh wait, that already happened... Forget it.. I guess he shouldn't have open carried his Star of David..

I suggest we start assembling a list of things that might get us kicked out of the movie theaters..

Crucifix on your Neck, AND an Irish accent!
(Could be one of those crazy IRA members from Ireland you know)

Pentagram (Might be not just a Pagan, but a Satanist who sacrifices children, & is looking for some using the cover of the dark of the movie theater..)

Gun on your side.. Definitely a nutjob! Haven't you ever seen the movie Death Wish?!!

Umm.. What about that guy coughing just a little too much during Flu season? That kills a lot of people every year.. You should most certainly be able to kick a guy out for coughing, don't you think? I mean he might have TB, or Swine Flu..

Lessee what else..

Oh! Oh! I know! What if the person comes in the theater, & buys TWO large bags of Popcorn, but came by himself???

How about a biker guy with lots of tattoos, & one of those jackets that has chains on it? That's definitely a sign of trouble.. You know that boy has a switchblade in HIS pocket fo sho!

Mr. Lee,

I think, perhaps, that you don’t truly understand some of the terms you are using or perhaps you simply use them carelessly. “Civil Rights” have a specific legal meaning; throwing everything into one pot and calling them “Civil Rights” to make a point is not helpful.

Likewise, bringing “driving” into the discussion or bringing in ridiculous situations/issues and wild “what ifs”.

I said earlier and I've said before that rights don't exist in a vacuum but I'm starting to believe that you believe that rights do exist in a vacuum. I say that because based on your statements in these two recent threads and others that you would prefer to completely ignore the rights of property owners...maybe I misunderstand you or maybe not but I find that attitude troubling because, I would suggest that it is “property rights” that are part of what underlie the concept of the castle doctrine and our ability to legally protect ourselves in our own home/on our own property - a concept I would assume you support? In a broader sense, no one person's rights are supposed to trample the rights of others - if you believe that such a concept is contained withing the Constitution or its amendments I simply state that you are wrong.

I would also suppose, based on your comments about the founders that you believe they (the founders) think there should be no restrictions of any kind on such things as free speech or bearing arms, correct? If so, I would assume that you also see speaking to insight people to riot or yelling “fire” in a crowded theater when there is no fire or writing/speaking lies about other people is Okay and should not be restricted and that convicted, violent felons or those who beat their spouse should not in any way be restricted from owning or carrying a firearm - is that what you believe?

Is that what you believe the founders believed?

It appears to me that you have a significant problem differentiating “your rights” from the rights of others and/or that you believe, or at least your words and your actions suggest that you hold “your rights” to be more important than the rights of others (such as property owners)?

Oh well...I suspect; no...I know that I’ll likely never get you to even acknowledge my points; much less ever agree with them and that is fine.

I also suspect that you still believe that I’m “delusional” and a “brainwashed sheeple”… that you feel my views are wrong; maybe even dangerous to our rights.

However, I believe that the attitude you’ve displayed in both this thread and the one regarding your recent traffic stop will inevitably lead to confrontation after confrontation is the more dangerous position here because it will only serve to harm our right to carry.

OK, Dan & Robert, what is it with you two?

You were warned previously about your excessively argumentative behavior, based on your comments in another thread. You each appeared to make an effort to "be nice", & the “hostilities” ceased.

Now, here you both are, in not one, but two threads, sniping back & forth once again.

There is a broad spectrum of beliefs relative to the Second Amendment and our gun rights (and other rights, too). It is not necessary that we all march in lockstep and unanimity of thought. There is room for more than one position, and respectful, thoughtful discussion is always welcomed—nay, even encouraged.

If your “discussions” were truly efforts to elicit thought-provoking comments, and persuade a change of position, it would be great. Unfortunately, your “discussions” rapidly degenerate into the “think as I think” mess we’re enduring once again—and on two topics, this time.

You were previously warned that such continued behavior would result in your posting privileges being changed to “moderated”—meaning your posts will have to be reviewed by a moderator or administrator before being seen by everyone.

Your behavior in these two threads (and following on the heels of the first one) has brought you back to the brink once again.

This is your one and only warning. Keep it up, and you will swiftly find yourselves on a very short leash.
