I talked with the enforcement folks for CNF - they indicated that their prohibition on carry was the result of TWRAs ban on carry, and that they would mirror TWRAs enforcement of the new law (ie, carry would be allowed where it would legal by TWRA rules, except in any FS building or structure). Their website is woefully behind on a myriad of other topics. The Feb 2010 enactment applies to Nat'l Parks, not NFs.

Feb 22 2010 is for National Parks. Cherokee National Forest is a National Forest. National Park = Dept of Interior National Forest = Dept of Agriculture.

You can carry in Cherokee NF or any WMA now . Smokey Mtn National Park is Feb 22 2010 they are different and not under the exact same rules.

The rule someone stated about "not loaded" is not for Permit holders it is still on the TWRA website and handbbook because it still applies to the general public, permit holders are the exception.

The handgun can be loaded and chambered.
