The Kingsport Times-News reports the BMA has decided not to even vote on the issue of opting out as they had planned.
Even though the Police Chief and Parks Dept as well as the mayor were in favor of opting out, citizens contacts on the issue were running 2 to 1 against opting out. The mayor had receive about 50 emails on the issue.
They finally decided not to address the Option and just follow the new State Law allowing carry in parks.
So a third of the Tri-Cities will have open parks as Bristol and Johnson City have opted out.
Sullivan County has not addressed the issue and neighboring Hawkins County is planning on a vote on Monday 7-27.
