At one time this mall was posted. However due to strong pressure from pro Second Amendment groups, they took their posting down. However, they have once again posted. I do not think their post meets the new requirement, however it IS on signage at the entrances to their property and parking lots.
This week there was an event that fortunately did not result in the loss of life but is an event we need to capitalize on. There was a carjacking at gun point in the mall lot. The perpetraitors were caught after a police chase.
We all need to contact the mall management and remind them of how such a prohibition and posting only effects law abiding citizens and events such as this only shows that criminals will not be deterred. I have written a letter to them on their web site. I am copying it here:
I would like to express my disappointment in your decision to post signage establishing a ban on weapons on your property. The event this past week of a car jacking in your lot proves that such bans are ineffective as criminals do not care about bans, signs or laws. The only thing you have accomplished is to prevent law abiding legal hand gun permit holders from entering your property. It also advertises to thugs such as the two in this event that there will be nobody on your property legally able to defend themselves.
I have noted on several crime tracking databases that your address shows 27 assaults, 2 agravated assaults, 10 cases of intimidation, 62 thefts from motor vehicles, 24 thefts of vehicle parts and accessories along with numerous other catagories of crimes in the last 12 months.
Your mall security and police can not be everywhere all the time and events such as this will only be on the increase. Denying law abiding citizens the ability to provide for their own safety will only create more victims.
Also, even though I have shopped in many stores in your facility in the past, I will no longer do business with any retailer in your mall as long as you maintain your policy against law abiding citizens.
Thank you
