I noticed that few places have the generic circle with slash no smoking/firearms sign. We know that these signs do not meet the legal criteria to be actually make you a criminal. Albeit you can be asked to leave woo hoo. Anyway, do you guys think that some restaurants/stores are intentionally posting these generic signs to appease the anti's? Who are usually not informed enough to know the difference. In other words: are they posting improperly intentionally so they can respect our rights "under the radar"? Of course, they wouldn't be able to admit to it. Like when the ammo manufacturers had to put "for law enforcement only" on certain types of ammo like the Black Talons and Hydra Shocks.

Personally, I think they are arrogant, and do not want to spend the money to properly post. If a HCP Holder carries into a venue that uses the "International" symbol to post, not meeting the State criteria, it makes the Holder look like he is argumentative, having knowledge of "Intent" via the sign. I would not want to take a chance in today's court system to explain why I chose to ignore what is clearly an intent to post.

I agree. I don't do business where I see the sign. The legal requirements are clear about the postings though. I never saw the transparent sign at a local gas station as it was on a glass door. The red letters blended in with the tan tile on the interior floor. This is a trap. You can't see the sign clearly at all. If my wifes mother, who works there, hadn't pointed it out I wouldn't have noticed it. I don't believe you could be legally responsible for such a sign. I have a picture of one but I don't know how to post it using a PDA. When my attention was brought to it I took a picture of it and e mailed it, that I can do, to several people I know and asked them to forward it. We won't be shopping there.
I find it hard to believe that money is an issue with some of the larger chains, though. Also to post correctly doesn't something have to be filed at the local clerk? I think they should have to post on a 4'x8' sign so you can see it from the road. I hate getting to the door and finding it.

I was in a local winery's tasting room and they had a sign posted on a wall behind the cash register that might have been legal, but not on the door entering the building. I didn't mention it. Don't know if this was a similar purposeful mis posting. or just ignorance on their part. It has only been open for a little over a year.

I wonder the same thing myself.
