If I read that right, the businesses on Beale St. prohibited firearms. (which they can do) However, as you stated, they cannot prohibit firearms from a public right-of-way.

Have there been any other discussions or updates concerning this. As of today (10-14-09) the legal sign is posted on the barricades.
