Anybody heard about a parking lot bill?

The General Assembly will be conveining in a few days. There has been press coverage of Ron Ramsey saying that he expects a parking lot bill to pass early on. It was also rumored several months ago that he was going to release to a few people a draft of a proposed bill. To my knowlege that never materialized. I am concerned that a bill that will pass quickly will have exemptions such as secured, fenced lots to appease the big business lobby such as FedEx, Volkswagen and others. Such an exemption would be unacceptable for me.

I fear that they will propose this legislation with these expemptions and then if we oppose it, they will say they tried but we were uncooperative.

If anybody has seen or heard of what is going to be proposed, I would be interested in seeing it as I have been working on this for many years.

Seen nothing but talk. I have the feeling that anything submitted by our leaders will be reminiscent of what Pelosi pulled a few years back, and that we get to pass it first and read it later if they have their way. Haslam wants schools to be areas where discrimination is allowed, and they are undoubtedly trying to forge an exception for companies like FedEx.

Lots of talk but no bill yet. I expect to see one nonetheless. NRA's lobbyist indicates that it is NRA's top issue after the last 2 years.

My expectation is that we will have so much push back from Haslam, Harwell and Ramsey that we are probably going to be faced with an "opt out" clause and be forced to considering asking our supporters to kill the bill.

What are the chances of FedEx seeking a waiver from the state Department of Safety allowing them to continue prohibiting guns on their property?
How does that work? Do we need to voice our opinions to the Dept. of Safety?

Does the Shelby County Airport Authority, FAA, TSA, have any jurisdiction over FedEx parking lots being on leased airport property ??
