Until Mr. Harris put it so eloquently, I had not even considered how nice it was for Randy to look after our well being and prevent us from undue criminal charges. What a guy.
Think we should make up T-Shirts that say "Thanks Randy, you single-handily extended our carry boundaries!" on the front, and "Thanks for getting us: The Zoo, the Redbirds Stadium, Malco... " on the back.
TNReb:
Didn't we have to sit on the bill until July 1st last year, even though it was passed in May, simply because of some procedural issue where it wouldn't go into effect until... or am I mis-thinking and subsequently mistyping?

The operative amendment will be to the Senate version, not the House...and yes, it removes the July 1 provision and substitutes the "upon becoming a law" clause, among other things.

Thanks for the clarification guys! I've never had a firm grasp on the details of how all of this legal stuff works.

Mr. Harris and TNReb, thanks for the clarification.
I could make a mock-up T-shirt design, but I'd have to ensure that the images I pulled were free use. I'll look around this weekend.
Maybe we can do a "Rock Tour T-Shirt":
------------------------------------------------------
2010 Tennessee 2nd Amendment Carry Tour
Name of Location Previously Unauthorized ... Veto Date
Sponsored by:
Randy Rayburn
Tennessee Hospitality Association
------------------------------------------------------
Of course, we have to get the veto overridden first; the public welfare requiring it.

Responses I have received from my email so far:
From Senator Delores Gresham:
I'm with you!
--------------------------
Sent from my BlackBerry Wireless Device
From Representative Ben West, Jr.:
You can count on Representative West on voting for the override.
From Representative Joe Carr:
Thank you for contacting me with regard to SB 3012. This is a very important piece of legislation for law biding citizens who believe that the Constitution of the United States gives authority to the private citizen "to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed". I will be voting YES to override the governors veto.
Thanks,
Joe S. Carr
