Rep. Joshua Evans has carried a bill which we have run in the past but always with strong resistance that would allow permit holders to commute to and from work with their handguns so long as the firearm remained in the vehicle while at work. This is predominately to overcome the criminal charge if the employer posts and also to keep people from getting fired just because they feel the need to be able to defend themselves going to and from work.
Two TFA members, Sam Cooper and Kenny Crenshaw, both from Memphis took the day off and came to Nashville to testify. Please take the time to watch their testimony.

Clearly, the bill was set up before any testimony was given as it received few relevant questions and was quickly sent to the "summer study committee"
A very disappointing development for employees and one which will certainly be revisited again.
Contact those committee members and your legislators to let them know you were disappointed (if you were) in the failure to move this bill toward the floor for a vote.
