*I* would NEVER allow an officer to handly MY firearm! Who's to say "something" hinky wouldn't/couldn't happen when one was handing it over? What if the officer drops it & fingers the trigger in the attempt to catch it? This very thing happened to a Smyrna LEO at the TN Reception Center with his OWN Glock!
No one, & I mean NO ONE handles my loaded firearm!

Hey bob, unless I am wrong, TN law gives the officer the right to disarm you, and make you less safe, for his safety. All he has to do is say he thinks he needed to.

bob, I know the video you speak of. That is a pretty typical cop moment (and, FWIW, I understand she was fired).
That said, legally you can request the supervisor. You can also request he order a pizza, that does not mean they have to do it, nor does it mean they will. No law says the officer must hold off disarming you until the boss shows. While I loathe the current situation, we have the boot on our necks as is, whether or not we also feel it. I know I do, every single day.

I keep a Flip digital video camera in my truck at all times. If something like this ever happened to me, I would have it recorded on video.
