It appears that those were sent out to the entire membership, regardless of status.
TFA has always spent very little on overhead. Would you rather pay for a large office staff, or have your money go towards getting useful changes in our laws?

As I stated in a private message you sent, TFA is trying hard to raise funds and membership to more effectively fight for 2nd Amendment rights in this legislative cycle and in the 2014 elections.
TFA has contracted with a consultant, a mail house and other resources to move our membership program from being processed each month for renewals to doing a single annual renewal.
That mailing went out to all members, current, lapsed and life - everyone. Part of the reason was it asked for not just renewals but DONATIONS.
Those of you who are life members, your membership will remain a life membership but we do ask that you consider the realistic need for not just ongoing DONATIONS but also PAC contributions.
If anyone thinks they have been "taken", perhaps you need to come work for free for TFA the number of hours per week that I do and quit thinking that any membership fee is all it takes to fight in the legislature or to win an election to defeat a well funded incumbent. If you do that, perhaps you will better appreciate the scope of the fight we have on our hands. If you are unwilling to do that, I really do not think you have ANY basis to bitch or complain.
