My wife and I decided to try a new mexican restaurant in our neighborhood. El Patio just opened this past Wednesday, the 8th of June. It is in a buiding that used to be an Applebee's at 3954 Austin Peay, by the Wal Mart in Raleigh. Being a new establishment with a newly acquired beer and liquor licenses, you would think that the most recent laws and ordinances would be researched. You could understand to some degree an older establishment still having the old signage that was in effect. However this was brand new restaurant and yet, at the register, where the usual required documents are posted, liquor, beer, business licenses and health inspection, they have the old big sign about the $2500.00 and or 11 months in jail for having a firearm where liquor is sold. It is the same sign that was in all package liquor store.
What is the deal with that. It was my understanding that that law was repealed with the new restaurant carry law. This establishment does NOT have ANY signs or postings at any of their entrances. I wonder if the local beer boards or the Alcholic Beverage Commission is still telling these restaurants that they still have to post that sign.
