I have a friend who was pulled over in Illinois for speeding they gave him a ticket but as the officer was leaving he stated that he noticed when he ran the lisc he had a carry permit form tn and asked if he had his weapon with him. My buddy knew he was OK to carry in Ky IND and Ohio but he assumed he was ok in ILLINOIS so he answered truthfully and said yes he had it with him, and was very respectful to the officer but was arrested spent 3 day in county jail was charged with a class 2 felony aggravated possession , His dad got a lawyer in Ill and the charge was reduced to class A misdemeanor unlawful possession he goes to court on mon the offer the DA has on the table is a conviction class a misdemeanor and small fine

will he loose his permit in tn to carry if so how long?

his lawyer said if the DA dont give him 2 years probation with it expunged from his record they will let the judge decide

On a class A misdemeanor, the permit is suspended for the period of time that the individual is under court supervision. TCA 39-17-1352.

What I am not sure of is whether TN will apply this rule to an out of state misdemeanor.

He is better off if it is a 2 year "under advisement" plea and then dismissed and expunged - if that is possible there.

Far as I know Illinois doesn't issue it's own citizens carry permits and will not honor any other state either that does

If a TN HCP holder were to carry through states that recognize TN permits, then before entering Illinois, unload the weapon, lock it in the trunk, and stored the ammo and gun separately as a Illinois resident might do to go to the firing range; could they still be charged with a similar felony? Isn't there a federal law that states that any person who can legally own and possess and handgun can also transport it through all states as long as the gun and ammo are separate, and the gun is locked away.

Back when I had my own political website, I took a little heat for saying "What good thing could come from Chicago".. It was of course referring to the years of political corruption there.. I still stand by that statement. Illinois politicians are by and large, corrupt, just like our current administration which was cultivated there.
