Buying guns from a friend who is not a TN resident.

Hello all,

Im new here and had a question regarding a firearm purchase I would like to make but am not sure of the legality of doing it. I am sure it is possible to do properly, I am just unaware of how to do it legally. I have a college friend who is looking to sell a handgun and shotgun and I am very interested. While he resides in TN during the college terms, he is originally from Texas. While searching for answer elsewhere, I found that if the sale was from one TN resident to another TN resident then no forms/registration were necessary to follow any applicable laws. However, I am not sure if the fact that this would technically be an out-of-state/interstate individual sale would require me to do anything to make sure I am following TN law. Thank you for any insight ya'll can give me.

Ooof, that really stinks. So I can't do it at all, at least by abiding by all state and federal laws. Could we maybe use a FFL dealer as an intermediary to get a background check done, or something like that? Thank you for the prompt response. Regardless of whether I can get the guns, I plan on visiting here quite often.
